    KT1 Fundamental Concepts, Screening/Muscle Test & Muscle Applications

    The KT1 course is designed to introduce practitioners to the Kinesio Taping® Method. Over the course of this 8 hour class, the instructor will discuss the fundamental concepts of the Kinesio® Taping Method and the unique properties and use of Kinesio® Tex Tape. During lab sessions, attendees will have ample time to practice screening and muscle testing created for the enhancement of your KT skills and muscle applications for both the upper and lower body. Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to discuss and apply the Kinesio® Taping Method to relax overuse syndromes, stimulate weak muscles, and decrease pain and swelling. In addition to instruction provided by a Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor (CKTI), the attendee will receive 2 full-color Kinesio Taping® Workbooks (KT1 Workbook 1) to augment their training. Each attendee also receives 60 day membership to the Kinesio Taping® Association which includes access to a reference data base.

    KT2 Advanced Concepts & Corrective Technique
    (Prerequisite: KT1 course)

    The KT2 course builds on material learned in KT1. During this 8 hour class, the instructor will introduce the six Corrective Techniques (Mechanical, Functional, Space, Fascia, Ligament/Tendon, and Lymphatic) and discuss their application in a variety of clinical conditions. During lab sessions, attendees will have ample time to practice applying these techniques to a variety of upper and lower body conditions. Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to discuss and apply the KT Method to orthopedic & neurological conditions. Attendees will receive Workbook 2 (KT Correctional Techniques and Clinical Applications) to augment their training.

    KT1 & KT2 Course Objectives:

    • Describe the concepts of Kinesio Taping
    • Review muscular anatomy as it is related to Kinesio Taping
    • Explain and apply the concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method
    • Describe the unique qualities of the Kinesio Tex Tape

    In order to attend a Kinesio Taping® seminar, each attendee must meet all of the following criteria: 

    1. Must have completed 80 course hours of anatomy & physiology

    KT3: Clinical Concepts and Advanced Whole Body Applications of the Kinesio Taping Method
    (Prerequisite: approved KT1 and KT2 courses)

    The KT3 course combines the Kinesio Taping Method foundational concepts of KT1&KT2 with advanced clinical concepts. The course provides lab time for attendees to practice their skills on the new concepts through a variety of clinical applications. The KT3 course is designed to allow the Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor (CKTI) to cater specific clinical applications to address specific professions. Upon completion of this course and prerequisite KT1&KT2 seminar, attendees will be eligible to request and take the exam to become a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP). Note: Students can request to take the exam but will not be eligible to receive a CKTP certificate until they graduate.

    KT3 Course Objectives:

    • Review the basic concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method
    • Explain and apply advanced concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method
    • Review epidermis, dermis, and fascial anatomy as it is related to Kinesio Taping
    • Utilize and demonstrate application skills in guided laboratory sessions
    • Apply the Kinesio Taping Method to stimulate epidermis, dermis, and fascial response
    • Apply advanced clinical taping techniques for treatment of the spine, neurological conditions, and upper/lower extremity dysfunction

    KT4 Specialty Myofascial Massage Concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method
    (Prerequisite: completion of KT1, KT2 & KT3)

    The KT4 Myofascial Massage course focuses on soft tissue related injuries and conditions. During the course, participants will learn techniques related to the following conditions: thigh strains, upper and lower cross syndromes, anterior compartment syndrome, and plantar fasciitis. For each soft tissue injury or condition, a Myofascial Massage routine will be demonstrated and followed by a suggested Kinesio Taping application for treating the injury/condition. Participants will have the opportunity to give and receive a significant amount of manual therapy and to experience the benefits of the Kinesio Taping Method during the practical lab components of the class.

    KT4 Course Objectives:

    • Describe the theory of Myofascial Massage
    • Describe and demonstrate Myofascial Massage strokes
    • Describe sports injuries, to include: Thigh Strain, Exertional Anterior Compartment Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis, Upper Cross Syndrome, and Lower Cross Syndrome. Demonstrate Myofascial Massage routines and Kinesio Taping applications for treating each of them.

    Students learn the benefits, intent, cautions and timing of sports massage treatments, learn and demonstrate commonly used sports massage strokes, learn a foundation for an event sports massage routine, learn how to set up and the list of necessary massage equipment for a successful on-site sports massage event, learn how to recognize the severity of sports related injuries and learn how to identify symptoms of hypothermia & hyperthermia.  Students demonstrate the sports massage strokes by performing pre and post event routines on their classmates.

    Students learn the basic principles and theories of Myofascial Sports Massage (MSM), learn the standing structural awareness test and learn basic body reading as a way to evaluate clients.  The instructor demonstrates basic and advanced MSM spreading strokes.  With direction from the instructor, the students then perform these MSM strokes on their classmates.  The instructor combines these strokes into a full-body MSM routine and demonstrates how it can be completed in 30 minutes.  Students perform the full-body routine on their classmates.  Students learn about common sports-related injuries, such as neck, lumbar and thigh strain, rotator cuff dysfunction, piriformis iliotibial band syndromes, anterior & posterior compartment syndrome and plantar fasciitis and learn and subsequently perform MSM routines for treating them. 

     

    Bring table, linens, drape towels.  Students must wear sports shoes and sports shorts (NO JEANS).  Women will be more comfortable in a sports bra and T-shirt.  80% hands on / 20% lecture

    The UltraSports Massage Toolbox is intended for the inexperienced and veteran sports massage therapist alike.  This course combines Myofascial Sports Massage, the Kinesio Taping® Method, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation & Active Isolated Stretching for the Athlete and Evaluation & Therapeutic Exercises for Upper and Lower Body Injuries and Conditions.  Shoulder injuries are given significant attention for the upper body and hip and thigh injuries and conditions are discussed during the lower body portion of the course.  Attendance at this course will give the participant an overview of evaluation and treatment options for their active clients.  Further study in each area is recommended.

    This program consists of three separate courses:

    • Pre & Post Event Sports Massage 5 CE Course # 20-255408
    • Advanced Sports Massage 16 CE Course # 20-255419
    • Myofascial Sports Massage 16 CE Course # 20-255436

    Pre & Post Event Sports Massage 5 CE $89/$99

    Students learn the benefits, intent, cautions and timing of sports massage treatments, learn and demonstrate commonly used sports massage strokes, learn a foundation for an event sports massage routine, learn how to set up and the list of necessary massage equipment for a successful on-site sports massage event, learn how to recognize the severity of sports related injuries and learn how to identify symptoms of hypothermia & hyperthermia.  This workshop will qualify attendees to participate on a sports massage team.  Students demonstrate the sports massage strokes by performing pre and post event routines on their classmates.

     

    Bring table, linens, cream and you must wear or bring loose-fitting shorts and sport shoes.  No jeans, sandals or flip flops allowed. 50% hands on / 50% lecture

    Advanced Sports Massage 16 CE $299/$349

    Advanced Sports Massage 16CE
    Students perform pre and/or post event sports massage routines on competitive athletes at local sporting events.  The instructor videotapes the students during the event and later provides critical review during class.  Students will learn & demonstrate proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and Active Isolated Stretching techniques.  Students learn about cryotherapy and thermal therapy, the injury response cycle, the acute inflammatory response and other physiological aspects of athletic training.  Bring table, linens, cream, and you must wear or bring loose-fitting shorts and sport shoes during classroom sessions.  No jeans, sandals or flip flops.  Wear professional clothing during the sporting events.  Prerequisite: Pre & Post Event Sports Massage 5 CE or equivalent course or experience.  50% hands on / 50% lecture

    Students learn the basic principles and theories of Myofascial Sports Massage (MSM), learn the standing structural awareness test and learn basic body reading as a way to evaluate clients.  The instructor demonstrates basic and advanced MSM spreading strokes.  With direction from the instructor, the students then perform these MSM strokes on their classmates.  The instructor combines these strokes into a full-body MSM routine and demonstrates how it can be completed in 30 minutes.  Students perform the full-body routine on their classmates.  Students learn about common sports-related injuries, such as neck, lumbar and thigh strain, rotator cuff dysfunction, piriformis iliotibial band syndromes, anterior & posterior compartment syndrome and plantar fasciitis and learn and subsequently perform MSM routines for treating them. 

     

    Bring table, linens, drape towels.  Students must wear sports shoes and sports shorts (NO JEANS).  Women will be more comfortable in a sports bra and T-shirt.  80% hands on / 20% lecture
