Sports Massage Certification Program - 37 CE
This program consists of three separate courses
- Pre & Post Event Sports Massage 5 CE – Course # 20-255408
- Advanced Sports Massage 16 CE – Course # 20-255419
- Myofascial Sports Massage 16 CE – Course # 20-255436

Pre & Post Event Sports Massage 5CE – Course # 20-255408
Students learn the benefits, intent, cautions and timing of sports massage treatments, learn and demonstrate commonly used sports massage strokes, learn a foundation for an event sports massage routine, learn how to set up and the list of necessary massage equipment for a successful on-site sports massage event, learn how to recognize the severity of sports related injuries and learn how to identify symptoms of hypothermia & hyperthermia. This workshop will qualify attendees to participate on a sports massage team. Students demonstrate the sports massage strokes by performing pre and post event routines on their classmates.
Bring table, linens, cream and you must wear or bring loose-fitting shorts and sport shoes. No jeans, sandals or flip flops allowed. 50% hands on / 50% lecture
Advanced Sports Massage 16CE – Course # 20-255419
Students perform pre and/or post event sports massage routines on competitive athletes at local sporting events. The instructor videotapes the students during the event and later provides critical review during class. Students will learn & demonstrate proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and Active Isolated Stretching techniques. Students learn about cryotherapy and thermal therapy, the injury response cycle, the acute inflammatory response and other physiological aspects of athletic training.
Bring table, linens, cream, and you must wear or bring loose-fitting shorts and sport shoes during classroom sessions. No jeans, sandals or flip flops. Wear professional clothing during the sporting events. Prerequisite: Pre & Post Event Sports Massage 5 CE or equivalent course or experience. 60% hands on / 40% lecture
Myofascial Sports Massage 16 CE – Course # 20-255436
Students learn the basic principles and theories of Myofascial Sports Massage (MSM), learn the standing structural awareness test and learn basic body reading as a way to evaluate clients. The instructor demonstrates basic and advanced MSM spreading strokes. With direction from the instructor, the students then perform these MSM strokes on their classmates. The instructor combines these strokes into a full-body MSM routine and demonstrates how it can be completed in 30 minutes. Students perform the full-body routine on their classmates. Students learn about common sports-related injuries, such as neck, lumbar and thigh strain, rotator cuff dysfunction, piriformis iliotibial band syndromes, anterior & posterior compartment syndrome and plantar fasciitis and learn and subsequently perform MSM routines for treating them.
Bring table, linens, drape towels, Prossage™ Heat and/or Palmer’s Cocoa Butter (3.5 oz tub). Students must wear sports shoes and sports shorts (NO JEANS). Women will be more comfortable in a sports bra and T-shirt. 80% hands on / 20% lecture
Kinesio Taping Certification Program (24 CE) Course # 20-111464
In this program, students learn about the basic principles & concepts of Kinesio Tex® Tape and how massage therapy treatments are enhanced by the use of the Kinesio Taping® Method. Students learn and apply various post massage taping techniques for treatment of the spine, upper and/or lower extremity dysfunction and common clinical/client conditions. Upon completion of this course, including the lecture, demonstration and lab, the participants will:
- Understand and apply the basic principles and concepts of the Kinesio Taping® Method.
- Understand and explain how massage treatments will be enhanced by the use of Kinesio Tex® Tape.
- Discover the unique functional qualities of Kinesio Tex® Tape.
- Comprehend the functional difference between Kinesio Taping and other taping methods.
- Comprehend the various cutting techniques and their clinical applications.
- Utilize and demonstrate application skills in guided lab sessions.
- Learn a time efficient method to relax overuse syndromes/spasms, stimulate weak muscles, and decrease pain and swelling.
- Apply various post massage taping techniques for treatment of the spine, and upper and lower extremity dysfunction.
Following the third 8 CE hour day, participants will request a certification exam by email from the Kinesio Taping Association and upon successful passage of the exam, will be granted the title, Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP).

KT1 Fundamentals of Kinesio Taping® - Introduction 8 CE
In the first portion of the seminar, students will learn the history and the physiological effects of the Kinesio Taping® Method, its benefits and limitations and the basic techniques for cutting and applying the Kinesio Tex® Tape. Students use different cuts to tape a number of muscles to relax or facilitate the particular muscle.
KT2 Advanced Kinesio Taping® - Corrective Techniques 8 CE
The second eight hours of the program covers the six corrective taping techniques. Students learn and apply post massage taping protocols for specific clinical injuries and conditions using standard muscle taping learned in KT1 and using the six corrective taping techniques. Taping protocols for conditions such as, shoulder impingement and instability, medial and lateral epicondylitis, IT band syndrome, etc. will be demonstrated and performed. Prerequisite: KT1
KT3 Advanced Kinesio Taping® - Clinical Applications 8 CE
The time between the two weekend seminars gives the students the opportunity to practice what they have learned and to try different corrective techniques and clinical taping protocols on their clients’/patients’ conditions to see what works the best for them. The students should feel free to be creative and bring to class their own taping experiences and protocols that they have developed. In this eight hour session, more advanced clinical condtions and sports related injuries will be demonstrated and performed. Prerequisite: KT2

Elevate Your Practice (6 CE) – Course # 20-238668
This course is an introduction to the Kinesio Taping Method®. The history, basic principles and theory of use of Kinesio Tex® Tape for the treatment of soft tissue injuries and muscle and joint dysfunctions are discussed. Deep tissue massage techniques for the forearm, cervical and lumbar areas are presented in conjunction with Kinesio Taping protocols for injuries and dysfunction to those areas. A topical analgesic is used for the massage lubricant and another is used at the conclusion of the Kinesio Taping. A discussion of the benefits of topical analgesics is presented.
