    KT1 Fundamentals of Kinesio Taping - Introduction 8 CE

    Saturday, September 11, 2010   8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

    In the first portion of the seminar, students will learn the history and the physiological effects of the Kinesio Taping® Method, its benefits and limitations and the basic techniques for cutting and applying the Kinesio Tex® Tape.  Students use different cuts to tape a number of muscles to relax or facilitate the particular muscle.

    KT2 Advanced Kinesio Taping® - Corrective Techniques 8 CE

    Sunday, September 12, 2010   8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

    The second eight hours of the program covers the six corrective taping techniques.  Students learn and apply post massage taping protocols for specific clinical injuries and conditions using standard muscle taping learned in KT1 and using the six corrective taping techniques.  Taping protocols for conditions such as, shoulder impingement and instability, medial and lateral epicondylitis, IT band syndrome, etc. will be demonstrated and performed.  Prerequisite: KT1

    KT3 Advanced Kinesio Taping® - Clinical Applications 8 CE

    Sunday, October 10, 2010  8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

    The time between the two weekend seminars gives the students the opportunity to practice what they have learned and to try different corrective techniques and clinical taping protocols on their clients’/patients’ conditions to see what works the best for them. The students should feel free to be creative and bring to class their own taping experiences and protocols that they have developed. In this eight hour session, more advanced clinical condtions and sports related injuries will be demonstrated and performed.  Prerequisite: KT2

    Following KT3, participants will request a certification exam by email from the Kinesio Taping Association and upon successful passage of the exam, will be granted the title, Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP).  The cost for the exam is $99 and will be a separate payment to the Kinesio Taping Association. 

     

    Refund Policy: One month prior to class, full refund minus 10%. Within one month from class 50% refund.

    Students learn the benefits, intent, cautions and timing of sports massage treatments, learn and demonstrate commonly used sports massage strokes, learn a foundation for an event sports massage routine, learn how to set up and the list of necessary massage equipment for a successful on-site sports massage event, learn how to recognize the severity of sports related injuries and learn how to identify symptoms of hypothermia & hyperthermia.  This workshop will qualify attendees to participate on a sports massage team.  Students demonstrate the sports massage strokes by performing pre and post event routines on their classmates.

    Bring table, linens, cream and you must wear or bring loose-fitting shorts and sport shoes.  No jeans, sandals or flip flops allowed.  50% hands on / 50% lecture

     

    This course is part of the full Sports Massage Certification Program (SMCP).  It may be taken separately from the other two courses.  Attendees may have an opportunity to work at a sporting event.  For an information packet which contains all the details and requirements of the SMCP, click here.

    Myofascial Sports Massage 16CE $300 - $349

     

    Thursday & Friday, Sept. 30 & Oct. 1, 2010  8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

     

    Students learn the basic principles and theories of Myofascial Sports Massage (MSM), learn the standing structural awareness test and learn basic body reading as a way to evaluate clients.  The instructor demonstrates basic and advanced MSM spreading strokes.  With direction from the instructor, the students then perform these MSM strokes on their classmates.  The instructor combines these strokes into a full-body MSM routine and demonstrates how it can be completed in 30 minutes.  Students perform the full-body routine on their classmates.  Students learn about common sports-related injuries, such as neck, lumbar and thigh strain, rotator cuff dysfunction, piriformis iliotibial band syndromes, anterior & posterior compartment syndrome and plantar fasciitis and learn and subsequently perform MSM routines for treating them. 

     

    Bring table, linens, drape towels, Prossage™ Heat and/or Palmer’s Cocoa Butter (3.5 oz jar).  Students must wear sports shoes and sports shorts (NO JEANS).  Women will be more comfortable in a sports bra and T-shirt.  80% hands on / 20% lecture

    Pre Race Sports Massage
    The Sports Massage Team from UltraSports Massage Therapy will be providing pre race sports massage therapy services at the Foster Grant Ironman 70.3 World Championship Sports and Fitness Expo.

    Licensed Sports Massage Therapists will be available on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday during normal expo hours. Availability will be first come, first served at the rate of $18 per 15 minute interval.

    Kinesio Taping® will be available for $20/condition ($10 if done in conjunction with massage).

    If you would like to schedule a massage before Wednesday or if you want to schedule a specific time during the expo hours, contact Pete Pfannerstill, Ph.D., LMT, Team Coordinator at 813-482-7200 or by email at ppfannerst@aol.com.  Outcalls will be available on a limited basis, with a two hour minimum time allotment ($180).

    Post Race Sports Massage
    The Sports Massage Team from UltraSports Massage will be providing complimentary 10 minute post race massages on Saturday following the triathlon. We anticipate having 20 licensed sports massage therapists and 60-80 student sports massage therapists. Availability will be first come, first served.

    The post race sports massage area will be located under the Pavilion.

    While post race sports massage is complimentary, athletes will be allowed to purchase additional minutes at the rate of $12 for 10 minutes or $24 for 20 minutes (Total 30 minutes max). The purchase of additional time guarantees being assigned to a licensed sports massage therapist rather than to a student.

    Post Race Sports Massage
    The Sports Massage Team from UltraSports Massage will be providing post race massages on Sunday following the 5K and 1/2 Marathon. We anticipate having 8-10 licensed sports massage therapists.  Availability will be first come, first served.

    The post race sports massage area will be located beyond the finish line food tent.  

    The rate for post race sports massage will be $6 for 5 minutes ($12/10 minutes, $18/15 minutes, etc.). Kinesio Taping® will be available for $20/condition ($10 if done in conjunction with massage).  Cash or credit payment on-site will also be available.
